Topic: Building demolitions along Yonge Street, near Royal Orchard Boulevard and at Yonge Street and Clark Avenue
Schedule: October 12, 2026 until December 31, 2026
Timing: Weekdays, 7:00AM to 7:00PM
What is happening?
To accommodate future construction of the Yonge North Subway Extension, crews working on behalf of Metrolinx will demolish the former bank building, parking lot and existing shed structure on the east side of Yonge Street, south of Royal Orchard Boulevard, and at several properties along Yonge Street, Clark Avenue, and Morgan Avenue. This work is necessary to make space for construction materials and equipment needed for tunnelling work and construction of the future Royal Orchard Station, and to make space for construction of the future Clark Station and to temporarily shift Yonge Street slightly east while the station is being built. This approach will allow more lanes to stay open during construction, helping keep everyone moving. It will also help work move forward predictably and reliably so Yonge Street can be restored to its original route after construction is complete. The construction zone is indicated on the graphics in the notices.
What to Expect:
You may notice construction vehicles and equipment around the site while work is underway.
- Work areas will be clearly marked and fenced off to keep everyone moving safely around the work site.
- We’ll take steps to manage and reduce dust, including spraying water and biodegradable dust suppressants when needed.
- After demolition work is complete, the ground at the site will be filled in and levelled.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
- We’ll keep the community informed of any significant changes.
