We’re all his landlord victims’: Dozens gather outside Thornhill home illegally subleased

“Financially and emotionally, we are burned.”

Those are the words of one of 15 landlords renting to convicted scammer Arif Adnan Syed, 37, who then illegally subleases the rented property to other renters.

On the afternoon of July 24, landlords, neighbours and city officials including MPP Logan Kanapathi, gathered in front of one of the properties currently being subleased by Syed.

Syed, and a woman, Hafsa Naseer, 25, were charged by York Regional Police on June 22 with fraud over $5,000, two counts of uttering forged documents, and two counts of identity fraud.
