Topic: Rehabilitation of Storm and Sanitary Sewers and Laterals 2026
Start Date: June 2026
End Date: December 2026
What is happening?
The City of Markham has identified storm and sanitary sewers and laterals (i.e., individual property connections) at various locations that are in a deficient condition and need to be repaired. The repairs will be completed using trenchless methods to limit disruptions to area residents.
The construction is scheduled to start in mid-June 2026 and is expected to be completed by the end of December 2026, weather permitting. During construction, the roadways will remain open at all repair locations.
The scope of work on this project includes, but is not limited to, the following:
• Storm and sanitary sewer pipe relining between maintenance holes
• Sanitary sewer pipe grouting at joints and voids
• Sanitary sewer pipe cleaning
• Sanitary lateral repair (within City right-of-way portion only)
Temporary disruptions to the usage of sanitary sewers may occur during liner installations. Further notice will be given to the affected residents 48 hours prior to the liner work.
The contractor for this project is GFL Utility Services ULC. While there will be some inconveniences during the rehabilitation work, the City staff will take all reasonable steps to minimize the impacts and complete the project on schedule. All areas disturbed during construction will be restored to their original condition.
If you require further information or have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please feel free to call the City of Markham’s Contact Centre at 905-477-7000.
