Update:
On January 23, 2024 the city’s Development Services committee approved a recommendation from the city’s Planning staff to refuse the Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment applications submitted by Grmada Holdings Inc. The recommendation was then unanimously endorsed by Markham Council at its meeting on January 31.
The city is in receipt of complete applications to amend the Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw to permit the redevelopment of the Octagon and Farmers Market properties located at 7409-7429 Yonge Street for mixed use high rise development. The highlights are as follows:
- the combined site area of the two properties is approximately 0.72 hectares
- two 60 storey towers atop a podium ranging in height from 1-8 storeys are proposed
- a total of 1,330 residential units are proposed
- the total proposed building ground floor area (GFA) is 107,558 m2
- 3,191 m2 of non-residential GFA is proposed
- the proposed overall site density is 15.3 FSI
